Accessibility
We want this site and the taproom to work for everyone who wants to use them.
Our commitment
People read the web in a lot of different ways: with a screen reader, with a keyboard instead of a mouse, with the text zoomed way up, with animation turned off. We build for all of it, not as an afterthought.
What we've done
Specifics, so you know what to expect:
- Semantic HTML throughout, with real headings, real lists, and real form labels, so screen readers can describe the page properly.
- A visible focus outline on every link, button, and field, so you can always see where you are when navigating by keyboard.
- A skip-to-content link at the top of every page.
- Text and background colors chosen to meet contrast targets.
- Buttons and links sized for touch, so they're easy to hit on a phone.
- Motion that respects your system's reduced-motion setting. Turn it on and our scroll animations stop.
- A layout that reflows to any screen size, with no sideways scrolling to read a line of text.
The standard we aim at
We're working to WCAG 2.1 Level AA.
Keeping it up
This isn't a one-time pass. We check new pages against the same bar as we add them, and we fix what we find.
In the taproom
We're in a house built in 1914, which is a lot of its charm and also means it wasn't designed with modern access in mind.
If you have questions about getting into the building, moving around inside, or what to expect when you arrive, please call us before you come. We'd much rather talk it through ahead of time than have you make the trip and find out at the door. We'll give you a straight answer and help however we can.
Tell us about a problem
If something on this site doesn't work for you, we want to hear it. Tell us what page you were on and what happened, and we'll get back to you and fix what we can.
